Areca catechu

Description

Areca nuts are the fruit of the Areca Palm found in South East Asia and Eastern Africa. They are chewed with betel leaf for their effects as a mild stimulant, causing a warming sensation in the body and slightly heightened alertness, although the effects vary from person to person. Our project focused on the determination of proanthocyanidins in the areca nut.
