Harna Patel graduated with her PhD in 2023 from the Department of Plant Biology. Previously, she worked with a variety of medicinal and aromatic plants and high value natural products including Oregano, Hazelnuts, Kombo Butter, Algae etc. In her work, she applied basic plant propagation and analytical chemistry techniques as well as analytical instruments such as GC/MS to investigate the plants characteristics and their uses. Her focus was on utilizing African medicinal plants to develop new products for food and cosmetics industries. In addition, she also assisted on the NIH funded project investigating intestinal microbial metabolism of grape derived products.

After graduating, Dr. Patel now works as the Program Coordinator I in the Department of Plant Biology.
