Lara Brindisi

Lara Brindisi is a PhD student in the Department of Plant Biology at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Her goal is to explore known and novel uses of plants to improve the well-being of individuals and societies, especially in the developing world. Her project investigates the medicinal, nutritional, and agricultural benefits of a plant called mashua (Tropaeolum tuberosum Ruiz & Pav.), which is an indigenous crop cultivated in the Andean Highlands of Ecuador and Peru. Her current research interests include ethnobotany, genomics, and sustainable agriculture.
