Umut Bicim is a current PhD student of Plant Biology (Natural Products & Human Health) at Rutgers University. His current research focuses on catnip (N. cataria) and oregano (O. vulgare) natural products for their bioactivity & applications in pest repellency. Umut graduated with a B.S. in Cell, Molecular & Developmental Biology and a B.A. in Classical Studies (Classical Languages) with minors in Plant Biology and Chemistry from Purdue University in 2024.

His interests include ethnopharmacology and ethnobotany and his main goal is to adopt eclectic and multidisciplinary approaches to improve human health via plants & their natural products.
